I've built 99 CRUDs, I hope this ain't one
There is a whole generation of new developers stuck in the CRUD space writing those same API handlers, data validators and DB queries. With tiny differences in the business logic we reinvent the wheel on every project. I get it, it's a job, and someone has to do it, but what really bothers me is not seeing the patterns. We could easily use almost the same data object (and presumably CRUD) to represent a tweet, a blogpost, an instagram shot, or a project management task, and for some reason we still choose to do it over and over again. Why do we do it? How do we get out of this enchanted circle? How come OSS is getting us only the half way there? Why are AI and LLMs not the answer? What is?
I have more questions like this, and even more opinionated answers that you might not like, but you'll find intriguing.
